For the first time, National Parents Day will be celebrated in Florida through a formal awards ceremony honoring 25 extraordinary parents whose impact is being felt throughout their families, communities, organizations, and beyond.

This historic event brings together family leaders, community changemakers, media, sponsors, and supporters to celebrate the parents helping shape future generations.

Joan McNally

Lifetime Advocate for Compassion Joan McNally has spent her life embodying what it truly means to serve others. Through her unwavering kindness, compassion, and generosity, she has touched the lives of family, friends, neighbors, and countless others with a heart that has always put people first. Alongside her beloved husband, Edward McNally, until his passing on October 26, 2025, Joan built a life centered on faith, love, family, and service. Together, they created a home where compassion was not simply taught—it was lived. Their partnership became a powerful example of unconditional love, mutual respect, and selfless giving, leaving a lasting impact not only on their own family but also on the youth in their community and the many lives they welcomed, encouraged, and uplifted throughout the years. As a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother, Joan has built a legacy rooted in unconditional love, humility, and grace. She has always been the person others could turn to for encouragement, comfort, wisdom, and support, never hesitating to extend a helping hand to someone in need. For her great-grandson, Aiden, she has been a living example of servant leadership—demonstrating through her daily actions that true greatness is found not in recognition, but in loving others, serving with humility, and treating every person with dignity and compassion. Together, Joan and Edward showed that the greatest legacy one can leave is not measured by wealth or accomplishments, but by the people whose lives are forever changed through kindness, generosity, and unconditional love. Today, Joan continues to carry forward the values she and Edward shared, inspiring future generations to lead with love, strengthen their families, invest in their communities, and leave the world better than they found it. Their legacy lives on through every life they have touched and through the generations who continue to follow the example they so beautifully set.

Dashama is a distinguished leader in the wellness industry, renowned author, teacher, healer, media creator, and inspirational speaker with over two decades of experience. Her profound dedication to healing and wellness stems from a deeply personal journey, marked by early childhood trauma within the foster care system and the tragic loss of her mother to addiction. As the founder of Flow State Institute and Bright Future Foundation, Dashama has committed her life to bringing healing and well-being to a diverse global audience. Her initiatives have reached individuals from all walks of life, including children, CEOs, families, Fortune 500 brands, celebrities, and military spouses. A primary focus of her work involves training trauma-informed yoga teachers and health coaches, thereby cultivating a network of healers dedicated to alleviating human suffering. Her expertise and influence have led to features on prominent media outlets such as QVC, ABC, NBC, Discovery, OWN, WSJ, and Vogue. Since 2014, Dashama has been a passionate supporter of GEM, actively participating in disaster relief efforts by visiting affected families, teaching meditation, yoga, and healing practices, and providing essential aid. Her overarching mission to heal and unify the world as "one human family" serves as the cornerstone of her teachings and drives her extensive philanthropic and social impact endeavors. Dr. John McDonald

Dr. John D. McDonald is Founder & CEO of JDM Associates, LLC. John has 52 years of experience in the electric utility transmission and distribution industry. John received his B.S.E.E. and M.S.E.E. (Power Engineering) degrees from Purdue University, and an M.B.A. (Finance) degree from the University of California-Berkeley. John is a Life Fellow of IEEE (member for 55 years), member of IEEE-HKN (inducted 55 years ago) and Tau Beta Pi (inducted 53 years ago), member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, and was awarded the IEEE Millennium Medal, the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Excellence in Power Distribution Engineering Award, the IEEE PES Substations Committee Distinguished Service Award, the IEEE PES Meritorious Service Award, the 2024 CIGRE US National Committee (USNC) Philip Sporn Award, the 2016 CIGRE Distinguished Member Award, the 2016 CIGRE USNC Attwood Associate Award, the 2021 CIGRE Honorary Member Award, the 2025 CIGRE USNC VP of Technical Activities Emeritus Award, the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative (SECC) Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity Career Achievement Award. John is Past President of the IEEE PES, Past Chair of the IEEE PES Substations Committee, IEEE Division VII Past Director, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. John was on the Board of Governors of the IEEE-SA (Standards Association), is IEEE Foundation President, is Governor At-Large on the IEEE-HKN Board of Governors and is a Founding Board Member of the SECC. John received the 2009 Purdue University Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineer Award and the 2023 Purdue University Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award. John teaches Smart Grid courses at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Smart Grid courses for various IEEE PES local chapters as an IEEE PES Distinguished Lecturer (since 1999). John has published one hundred fifty papers and articles, has co-authored five books and has one US patent.

Greg Stevens is the Co-Founder and CEO of We Save Teens, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth and educating families about the transformative power of adoption, mentorship, and positive guidance. While Greg is passionate about helping young people through his nonprofit work, the role he treasures most is being a father. More than twelve years ago, Greg welcomed a one-and-a-half-year-old boy into his life and made a commitment that would forever shape his future. Though not connected by biology, Greg never viewed himself as anything less than a father. Through unconditional love, guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support, he has dedicated himself to helping his son grow into a kind, respectful, and compassionate young man. Today, his son is an honor student, an active volunteer, and a young man who understands the importance of integrity, service, and treating others with respect. Watching him grow has been one of the greatest joys and proudest accomplishments of Greg’s life. Greg believes that parenthood is not defined by blood, but by presence. It is about showing up every day, leading by example, and providing a child with the love, stability, and encouragement they need to reach their full potential. These values guide not only his parenting but also his work serving young people through We Save Teens and his commitment to making a positive impact in the community. Inspired by the lessons passed down from his own parents and grandparents, Greg encourages young people to think for themselves, pursue their dreams, and embrace who they are without fear. He believes children thrive when they are loved, supported, and empowered to become the best version of themselves. Greg often says he is not simply a stepfather—he is a “step-up father.” It is a philosophy he has lived every day for more than a decade and one that reflects the legacy he hopes to leave behind: a legacy of love, leadership, service, and dedication to the next generation.

Apostle Dr. Leinaala Mars-Opoku

Silencienne Phanor Baltazar

Silencienne Phanor Baltazar is a Haitian educator, school administrator, and socio-political leader with more than two decades of dedicated service to the people of Haiti. A graduate of a teacher training (normal) school, she has devoted her career to advancing education, defending the rights of women and vulnerable populations, and strengthening civic engagement at the community level. She is the founder and director of several schools in the commune of Petite Rivière de l’Artibonite, as well as educational initiatives in Florida (2021) and Jacksonville, Illinois (2025). Through these efforts, she has played a leading role in expanding educational opportunities, mentoring young people, and reinforcing the local school system. Her work has consistently emphasized academic excellence, moral values, and community responsibility among Haiti’s youth. Since 2000, Ms. Baltazar has served as a coordinator within GROFODEM, where she has been actively engaged in advocating for women’s rights, social justice, support for homeless individuals, youth development, and community sports programs, including soccer initiatives. Through this work, she has become a respected voice for equality, human dignity, and community empowerment. In the civic and political arena, she has served since 2015 as President of New Hope for Haiti, an organization dedicated to promoting citizen participation, community development, and the advancement of women in leadership. Under her leadership, the organization has championed initiatives designed to empower local communities, encourage civic engagement, and foster sustainable social progress throughout Haiti. Throughout her career, Silencienne Phanor Baltazar has distinguished herself as a leader of integrity, determination, and vision. Her lifelong commitment to education, social development, and public service reflects an unwavering dedication to building a stronger, more just, and more equitable Haiti for future generations.

Founder & Presiding Prelate of World Overcomers Kingdom Ministries, Inc
Apostle D. Ramel Smith, Ph.D. is the Founder and Presiding Prelate of World Overcomers Kingdom Ministries, Inc. and Founder of the Overcomers International Kingdom Alliance (OIKA), a global apostolic network dedicated to equipping leaders, planting churches, advancing humanitarian outreach, and expanding the Kingdom of God through ministry and leadership development. Called by God from an early age, Apostle Smith accepted Christ at Union Grove Church of Christ, where his gifts in worship and ministry began to flourish. At just sixteen years old, he preached his inaugural sermon, and in 2008 became the youngest licensed Elder in the history of The Churches of Christ Disciples of Christ International & Incorporated. His ministry continued to expand through church planting, pastoral leadership, and community outreach before he launched World Overcomers Kingdom Ministries in 2021. In 2022, he was consecrated as Bishop, affirmed as an Apostle of the Faith, and enthroned as a Presiding Prelate. Apostle Smith is also an accomplished scholar, earning degrees from several institutions, including a Doctor of Philosophy in Biblical Studies, along with master's degrees in Divinity and Health Administration, bachelor's degrees in Biblical Studies and Correctional Program Support Services, and an Associate of Biblical Studies. He has also completed advanced leadership certifications and maintains memberships in numerous professional and honor societies. Bridging ministry with professional excellence, Apostle Smith is the Founder of DRS Consultant Group, LLC, a behavioral health organization providing mental health, addiction recovery, and psychotherapy services throughout Virginia. With more than a decade of experience in behavioral health, education, and human services, he holds numerous professional credentials, including Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, Certified Medical Practice Executive, Board-Certified Human Services Practitioner, and several advanced addiction counseling certifications. Under his leadership, World Overcomers Kingdom Ministries and OIKA have become vehicles for church planting, leadership development, humanitarian outreach, international missions, and community transformation. His passion for serving the homeless, strengthening communities, and equipping leaders continues to impact lives both nationally and internationally, as he fulfills his calling to build people, transform cities, and advance the Kingdom of God.
